UM Deep Tech: Startup Accelerator Programme
This is a new initiative from UM Centre of Innovation and Commercialization (UMCIC) to bring university technology from lab to market and it is a six-month unique accelerator program that compasses 24-weekend classes and a hands-on market validation study. The selected startup projects will also participate in an external pitching program to get valuable insight and experience as their final preparation before UMDT Demo Day. This program aims to enhance the university’s entrepreneurial values and nurture University Startups through financial support, mentorship, exposure to investors pitching, and market validation guidance.
Ivy Chung is the Director for Center of Innovation & Commercialization at Universiti Malaya (UMCIC), Malaysia. Her portfolio in UM innovation ecosystem includes industrial collaboration, licensing, commercialization and business startups. Prior to this, she has been serving as the Deputy Dean for Health & Wellbeing Research Cluster, Universiti Malaya. She was also briefly attached to Novartis (M) Corporation under the Ministry of Education CEO@Faculty 2.0 program. She is currently an Associate Professor at Department of Pharmacology, Faculty of Medicine in UM. With a PhD in molecular pharmacology, her research focus is mainly in preclinical drug development and oncology research.
